Rules for Determining the Five Elements
The element of a Snake year is determined through a combination of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches,
and finalized using the Sixty Jia Zi Nayin Table.
When there is a discrepancy between the Heavenly Stem’s element and the Nayin element,
the Nayin element takes precedence.
For example, 1965 (Yi Si) has the Heavenly Stem “Yi” (Wood),
but its Nayin is Fú Dēng Huǒ (Lamp Fire), so it is classified as a Fire Snake.
